Fonction arccotangente

La fonction arccotangente est la réciproque de la restriction de la fonction cotangente à l'intervalle $[0, \pi]$.

$$\textrm{arccot}~: \begin{array}[t]{rcl} \mathbb{R} & \rightarrow & [0, \pi] \\[1mm] x & \mapsto & \textrm{arccot}~x, \end{array}$$

tel que $\textrm{arccot}~x = y \iff y = \cot x$ et $0 \leq y \leq \pi$. On a donc comme propriété immédiate que $\textrm{arccot}~(\cot x) = x = \cot (\textrm{arccot}~x)$.

La fonction est continue et strictement décroissante sur son domaine, et elle n'est ni paire, ni impaire. Elle ne possède pas de racine. Elle possède deux asymptotes horizontales $y = \pi$ et $y = 0$, puisque :

$$\lim_{x \to -\infty} \textrm{arccot}~x = \pi \textrm{ et } \lim_{x \to \infty} \textrm{arccot}~x = 0.$$

La fonction $\textrm{arccot}$ est dérivable sur $\mathbb{R}$ et sa dérivée vaut :

$$(\textrm{arccot}~x)' = \frac{-1}{1 + x^2}.$$
